Research Description

Ultimately, the goal for my dissertation is to study the mechanism of how fast-acting antidepressants/anxiolytics produce effects on plasticity and behavior. By understanding this, we will be able to develop non-hallucinogenic and better-tolerated analogs for treating a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders. Over the years, I have worked in six different labs and learned a number of techniques to become proficient in molecular biology. My current training goal is to understand how changes at the cellular and molecular levels impact neural circuits that control fear extinction learning and behaviors relevant to mood and anxiety disorders.
